The Yankee stadium is one of the most famous stadiums in the
world. It is located in Bronx, New York. The Yankee stadium is a ball park that
was built to house professional baseball and is the home of the New York
Yankees. It is used to host many different baseball games and provides a large
amount space for spectators to watch and enjoy the games. The Yankee stadium
holds around 50,325 people. It contains 4,300 club seats, 68 luxury suites for
members, special ticket holders, or for those who purchase more expensive
tickets.
On April 18th 1923 the first Yankee stadium was
opened. It cost 2.4 million dollars to build and held around 57,545 people.
Over the years the stadium badly deteriorated and became run down as well as
the neighborhood surrounding it. Owner George Steinbrenner began campaigning in
the 1980’s for a new stadium. After the money was gathered the construction of
the new Yankee stadium began on August 16th, 2006 directly across the
street from the old one. The stadium opened three years later on April 3rd,
2009. It contains the same features as the old stadium but was improved with
greater space and more amenities. The
Yankee Stadium was built from Indiana limestone, granite, and a large amount of
pre caste concrete. A special feature that was originally built on the old
Yankee stadium got incorporated into the new stadium. A copper frieze coated
with zinc that runs along the billboards, bleachers, and scoreboard. Many of
the visitors that have ever gone to the Yankee stadium strongly admire the copper
frieze because of its beautiful design and look.
